S. Darrell Lee, M.D. Proudly Supports the Richard David Kann Melanoma Foundation

Today supporters of the Richard David Kann Melanoma Foundation have taken to the greens of Mirasol Golf & Country Club in order to raise funds and save lives by educating the public about sun safety, prevention, and early detection of skin cancer (especially Melanoma).

S. Darrell Lee, M.D. joined the board of the Foundation earlier this year to provide valuable support and to help increase awareness of:

  • The dangers of the sun's UVA & UVB rays
  • The dangers that result from tanning beds
  • Prevention and early detection of skin cancer
Did you know?
Florida ranks second in the nation in the number of annually diagnosed skin cancer cases, and those numbers are growing. Across the nation, over 1-million people will be diagnosed with skin cancer this year. Of those, about 10,000 will die, mostly from melanoma—the deadliest form of skin cancer. These statistics classify this disease as an epidemic, and it doesn't have to be. Most skin cancers can be avoided, but we must take action to increase awareness among our youth about the outcomes of overexposure to the sun.

On behalf of everyone at Lee Plastic Surgery & Laser Center, we encourage you to be sun smart and examine your skin often to ensure a healthy 2010 and beyond.
