S. Darrell Lee, M.D. serves on the board of the foundation to further their message of the importance to be sun smart.

The United States has the third highest rate of skin cancer in the world with almost one in five individuals developing some form of skin cancer during their lives. Sun screen of 30 spf or higher (with UVA/UVB protection) is essential. Remember to apply sun screen 30 minutes prior to sun exposure and reapply every 2 to 3 hours.  Avoid tanning beds. For a bronze glow alternative, consider a spray tan.

Ultimately the key is prevention. If you suspect you may have sun damage or skin cancer, please contact Lee Plastic Surgery & Laser Center at 772-878-8885 or your dermatologist or physician immediately for a consultation.
